Every morning, an old water carrier walked from the river to his village carrying two pots on a wooden stick across his shoulders. One pot was perfect, but the other had a small crack in it. By the time the carrier reached home, the cracked pot was always only half full.
For years, the cracked pot felt ashamed.
“I am useless,” it said one day. “Because of me, you lose water every single day.”
The water carrier smiled gently and said,
“On the way back tomorrow, look at the path carefully.”
The next day, the cracked pot noticed something it had never seen before—beautiful flowers blooming all along its side of the path, while the other side was dry and dull.
The carrier said,
“I knew about your crack. So I planted flower seeds along your side of the path. Every day, the water you leaked helped them grow. Because of you, the village enjoys fresh flowers.”
The cracked pot realized that imperfection does not mean worthlessness. Sometimes, our flaws are the very reason something beautiful exists.
